Immigrants Challenge Drivers License Law

AUSTIN (CN) - Texas denies drivers to immigrants who are legally in the United States, but have less than a 1-year visa or less than 6 months remaining of legal residency, three men and a landscaping company say in challengng the law in Travis County Court. The law took effect Oct. 1, 2008.

The plaintiffs want the law enjoined. They are represented by David Hinojosa with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund of San Antonio.
