ID Theft Covered Up, Software Firm Says

CHICAGO (CN) - An employee of ABM Lakeside stole a computer containing financial information, including Social Security numbers and insurance claims, of more than 500,000 New York state workers' comp recipients, and then lied to investigators, including the FBI, by saying the thief had been out of the country at the time, CS Stars claims in Cook County Court. CS, which provides software to manage insurance claims, says it had to spend more than $1 million to notify workers of the ID thefts and provide monitoring.
