ID Ring Got Info From Sports Bet Web Site

MANHATTAN (CN) - A large identity-theft ring robbed customers of the internet gambling website BetOnSports.com after a worker gave them the sensitive information on at least 150 customers, said the U.S. Attorney's office in New York.

Patrick Kalonji, from the Republic of the Congo, pleaded guilty Thursday to passing the names, addresses, social security numbers, and credit card numbers, as well as other information, to the ring from July of 2002 to August of 2004.

With the money, the ring bought international flights among other things.

Kalonji is represented by Patrick Smith from Joseph F. Pippen, JR. & Associates, and faces a maximum of 30 years in federal prison.

Assistant United States Attorney Marcus Asner is representing the government.
