ICE Ran Amok, Salvadoran Says

LOS ANGELES (CN) - A Salvadoran citizen legally in the United States says he was unconstitutionally arrested and imprisoned for 5 months because U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers falsely claimed he was an alien smuggler who happened to have the same first name. Rene Aguilar Carballo claims ICE suppressed exculpatory evidence, and its only evidence against him was a secret, sealed indictment against a man also named Rene, whose last name is unknown.

Aguilar is represented in Federal Court by Federico Castelan Sayre of Santa Ana.
