LOS ANGELES (CN) - Hustle Zombies Entertainment claims in court that a cable TV network broke a promise to buy worldwide broadcast rights to three seasons of the reality show "Ratchet Queens," leaving the Zombies to pay for the first episode.
Hustle Zombies Entertainment sued Punch Television Network and Punch CEO Joseph Collins in Superior Court.
Hustle Zombies claims that in September 2013 it agreed to produce 13 episodes of the show for the defendants.
It claims Punch agreed to pay $700,000 for each season of the show, with the first $50,000 installment due 45 days after the deal was completed. An additional $50,000 was payable after each new episode aired, the company says.
Hustle says it signed actress Tiffany Pollard to host the show and borrowed $25,000 to complete the first episode.
Collins requested a 15-day extension on Punch's first $50,000 payment, Hustle claims.
"Hustle Zombies - having no realistic alternative, having already incurred production expenses and entered into commitments based upon defendants repeated promises - reluctantly agreed," the complaint states.
But the creator says it never saw a dime, leaving the show in limbo.
Alleging breach of contract, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation, Hustle Zombies seeks $2.1 million in economic damages, and costs.
The Woodland Hills company is represented by David Cohen of Tovar & Cohen.
