Hotel Breakfast

A Virginia appeals court overturned a woman’s conviction for defrauding a hotel restaurant by obtaining food without paying. The woman, who joined acquaintances staying at the hotel for breakfast, refused to pay $8 the hotel requested from her afterward for her meal. There was reasonable doubt as to the woman’s intent to defraud the hotel at the time she ate breakfast, the court ruled.

RICHMOND, Va. — A Virginia appeals court overturned a woman’s conviction for defrauding a hotel restaurant by obtaining food without paying.
