Honey Origin Must Be on|Label for USDA Inspection

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Agricultural Marketing Service requires that the country of origin be placed clearly on the label of packaged honey near any official U.S. Department of Agriculture mark or statement, and, effective Feb. 3, the agency will suspend USDA inspection and certification for companies not following the rule.

The rule implemented a section of the Food, Conservation and Energy Act that amended the Agricultural Marketing Act. The suspension of inspection and certification would only apply to honey.
