Holland & Knight Sued Over Nadel Ponzi Scam Papers

TAMPA (CN) - In a legal malpractice claim, 10 plaintiffs say Holland & Knight and Scott McLeod improperly prepared private placement memoranda or offering documents that were used to defraud them of $4.7 million in Arthur Nadel's Ponzi scheme.

Federal prosecutors charged Nadel in April with defrauding investors of $360 million in a 10-year Ponzi scheme, from which he allegedly skimmed millions in management fees.

Nadel briefly disappeared in January before prosecutors unsealed a deposition from an FBI agent who sought an arrest warrant. Nadel left an alleged "suicide note," but was arrested later in Florida and sent to New York.

Plaintiffs are represented in Hillsborough County Court by Wanda Hagan Golson.
