Hockey CEO Blows Whistle On Himself

ST. LOUIS - Redefining "poor timing," the St. Louis Blues announced and withdrew an offer of free beer to fans who bought select tickets to Tuesday night games - on the same day a former Blues player was sentenced to four years in prison for his role in a fatal drunk-driving accident in Canada.

The offer, called "Tuesdays on Tap" was emailed to Blues fans at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, but shortly after, Blues Enterprise CEO Peter McLoughlin withdrew the offer, calling it a "business decision."

Shortly before the email offer went public, news wires carried a story from Ontario, Canada stating that Rob Ramage, 48, who played for the Blues from 1982 to 1988, was sentenced to four years in prison for a drunken driving accident that killed Keith Magnuson, also a former pro hockey player.

Evidence showed that Ramage's blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit at the time of the crash.
