HIV-Infected Recidivist Gets 10 Years

BETHALTO, Ill. - A recidivist who repeatedly exposed women to the HIV virus has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Casey J. Younts, 24, admitted having sex with a 24-year-old woman and her 19-year-old sister, weeks after being released from prison for a similar offense.

The two women have tested negative for HIV, though the latency period for the virus can be as long as 10 years.

Younts pleaded guilty this month in exchange for the 10-year sentence. He could have faced up to 14 years in prison.

In May 2005 Younts was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to the same charges involving a girl between the ages of 13 to 17.

Bethalto is 30 north of St. Louis.
