SANTA ANA, Calif. (CN) - A Southern Californian was sentenced Thursday to seven years in federal prison for trying to hire a hit man to kill the boyfriend of a friend's daughter.
Antonio Quevedo, 35, of Hawthorne, pleaded guilty last year to conspiracy, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
His co-conspirator, Adelina Cristobal, 56, of Lawndale, also pleaded guilty. She will be sentenced on Jan. 31.
An undercover officer posing as the hit man met with the defendants, who offered the officer $6,500 to kill the intended victim. Cristobal was to pay Quevedo an additional $500 for arranging the meeting with the hit man, the U.S. attorney said.
