Hilary Swank Claims|Ads Use Her Image

(CN) - Actress Hilary Swank claims a Los Angeles company used her image without permission to sell luxury home entertainment systems.

Swank claims Robert's home Audio and Video Inc., Cordero Studios and Randall Cordero wrongfully cashed in on "her persona's tremendous commercial value by using her image in ads that ran throughout the U.S. and all over the world without her permission."

Robert's Home Audio used movie stills from the actress' Oscar-winning role in the Clint Eastwood-directed movie "Million Dollar Baby," according to the complaint in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Eastwood sued a furniture company in April, claiming it sold chairs, ottomans and entertainment centers using his name and image.

Swank also nabbed an Oscar for playing the transgender teenager Brandon Teena in "Boys Don't Cry."

Swank seeks punitive damages for publicity rights violations and an injunction prohibiting Robert's Home Audio from continuing to use her image. She is represented by Charles J. Harder of Wolf Rifkin Shapiro Schulman & Rabkin in Los Angeles.
