High Court Stays Out Of W.V. Tobacco Dispute

WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S. Supreme Court refused to take up the tobacco industry's bid to limit punitive-damage awards in more than 700 lawsuits filed by West Virginia smokers who say cigarettes gave them cancer and other health problems. The high court declined the case without comment.
