‘Hello, Facebook, Are You There?’

ST. LOUIS (CN) - A woman wants a city judge to order Facebook to remove a fake profile of her from the Internet, after the company failed to respond to her lawyer's demands.

Brieanne Weber says someone set up a page featuring her name and photos without her permission. She says Facebook did not respond to a March 10 letter from her attorney, Jeffrey Lowe.

On March 17, Lowe says, he followed Facebook's instructions on how to report a fake profile. He got an automated response that "stated for security reasons, Facebook would not be able to respond to plaintiff's counsel with the additional information about the reported account and to please have the account owner view the security section of our help center," the complaint states.

"On that same date, plaintiff's counsel responded, 'How can the account holder respond, it is not her profile. She is not the account holder, an imposter is. Let us know how to handle it."

Failing to get a response, Lowe says, he tried to resolve the complaint with Facebook through email, but the social networking giant remained electronically mute.

So he wants a judge to order Facebook to remove the fake profile and all of the pictures associated with it.

Lowe is a member of Carey, Danis & Lowe, of St. Louis.
