‘Healthy’ Sugar

The European Court of Justice confirmed Thursday that a German purveyor of glucose energy tablets cannot make health claims about the product’s supposed ability to improve metabolism and muscle function without mentioning the dangers of increased sugar consumption.

LUXEMBOURG – The European Court of Justice confirmed Thursday that a German purveyor of glucose energy tablets cannot make health claims about the product’s supposed ability to improve metabolism and muscle function without mentioning the dangers of increased sugar consumption.

The court’s opinion was only made available in German and French as of press time.
