He Should Have Left Bad Enough Alone

JONESBORO, Ill. (CN) - A child molester who appealed his 22-year sentence walked out of court looking at 48 years instead.

Gregory McCord, 51, was convicted by a state jury in 2010 of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault and child pornography, according to The Associated Press.

McCord appealed his sentence, and a Union County judge sentenced him this week to 48 years.

State's attorney Tyler Edmonds told the AP that an appellate court remanded the case to Union County for resentencing, and that his terms should run consecutively, not simultaneously.
