WASHINGTON (CN) - The Consumer Product Safety Commission plans to determine that hand-held hair dryers without integral immersion protection present a substantial product hazard.
The rule applies to consumer products and 'professional' hair dryers available for sale to consumers.
The safety commission may specify that a certain characteristic of a consumer product may present a substantial product hazard. Under the commission's rules, the characteristics must be readily observable, and have been addressed by a voluntary standard that has been effective in reducing the risk of injury. There also must be substantial compliance with the voluntary standard.
