Hartford Settles Class Action for $10M

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (CN) – Hartford Insurance will pay $10 million to settle a class action claiming that it cheated accident victims on medical bills. Madison County Circuit Judge Daniel Stack gave preliminary approval to the deal, which would provide $7.5 million to providers, insurers and beneficiaries.     The rest of the $2.5 million will go to legal fees, the Madison County Record reported.      Named plaintiff Winnie Madison filed suit in 2000.
