Hackers Break in|to Uber Computers

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - Hackers broke into Uber's computers and stole confidential and proprietary information, the company claims in Federal Court.

Uber sued John Doe on Friday. It does not know his name or where he is.

It claims that on May 12, 2014, Doe used a "unique security key" to break into its database and steal confidential and proprietary information.

Uber says that more than 100,000 people use its services, in more than 200 cities, and that it "maintains internal database files with confidential details on the drivers who use its application."

The nature of the stolen data is not described in the 4-page complaint.

It seeks an injunction ordering Doe to stop it.

Uber is represented by James Snell, with Perkins Coie.
