Guru Says Ex-Employees Have It Out for Him

PHOENIX (CN) - An Indian man who claims that he can transform cancer cells with his thoughts says in court that jealous former employees have defamed him online as a sexual predator.

Mahendra Trivedi says his organization "collaborates with research institutions to promote scientific progress and to develop solutions to global problems through the use of energy transmissions that have the potential to transform living organisms and non-living materials."

A website for the Trivedi Foundation says Trivedi "has a unique ability to transmit an unknown energy through thoughts." He likens his ability to "the 'jumper cable' connecting the receiver with the Unknown Energy."

But three former employees and independent contractors have conspired with five other individuals to spread lies about Trivedi on the Internet, according to the complaint in Maricopa County Superior Court.

"Defendants have coordinated their activities, particularly their use of Internet blogs, to post false and disparaging information about Mr. Trivedi and the Trivedi business entities," the complaint states.

Their conduct is "motivated by anger, jealousy, frustration, greed," Trivedi says

The lies portray Trivedi as an illegal immigrant who sexually abuses women, injects himself with human growth hormone and employs "computer hackers in India who target Mr. Trivedi's enemies," according to the complaint.

Trivedi's detractors have also allegedly accused him of money laundering and tax evasion.

They call him "a sexual predator," "child molester" and "scam artist," according to the complaint.

Trivedi says "self-proclaimed journalist" Dennis Lang wrote in a PurQi.com blog that Trivedi is a "fake guru with fake science who uses his self-proclaimed grandiosity to rape young women."

Lang also allegedly wrote that Trivedi "apparently coerced [his assistant and her sister] into sleeping with him and having frequent sex with him and if they resisted he would threaten them that he would take blessings back from their family."

Trivedi says Lang went to the FBI with accusations of Trivedi "fraudulently obtaining original Visa in 2009; violation of 5013c [sic] non-profit charitable trust regulations; tax evasion; improper use of 1099 independent contractor provisions; operating a business with [an] expired employment authorization card; fraudulently obtaining [a] green card; money laundering; rape; Title VII of the Civil Rights Act; Fair Labor Standards Act."

The former employees are denigrating Trivedi even though they signed independent contractor or nondisclosure agreements that banned them from disclosing "trade secrets, directly or indirectly, to any other person or [to] use them in any way, either during the term of this agreement, or at any time thereafter," according to the complaint.

Trivedi is a co-plaintiff with his businesses: Trivedi LLC, Trivedi Master Wellness, Trivedi Foundation and Trivedi Products.

He names as defendants Dennis Lang; Rupa and Paras Sharma; Rajiv Abrol; Jane Smith; Nolan Corbitt; Joanne Baldwin; Cynthia Sparks; and Innovantes Solutions. The complaint says Baldwin, Smith and Sparks used to work for him. Abrol allegedly provided Trivedi with accounting services through Innovantes.

Corbitt also writes defamatory blog posts about Trivedi on PurQi, according to the complaint.

Trivedi and his businesses an injunction and punitive damages for defamation and civil conspiracy. They are represented by David Selden of the Cavanagh Law Firm.
