Guilty Pleas to Sex Trafficking of a Minor

ST. LOUIS (CN) - A Minneapolis pimp and his female associate face up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges of sex trafficking of a minor.

Prosecutors said Maurice Alexander, 24, and Latoshia Norris, 25, both of Minneapolis, invited 16-year-old Jane Doe to live with them in May 2010 after she was abandoned on their street. Doe told Alexander and Norris she was 17. Alexander and Norris allegedly trained her to work as a prostitute and gave her alcohol and marijuana.

Prosecutors say Alexander drove Doe and Norris to other cities, including Des Moines, Indianapolis and Kansas City, for commercial sex after Norris advertised her on the Internet.

Doe eventually left Alexander and Norris and moved to St. Louis without them, leaving them a letter revealing her true age. But Alexander and Norris returned to St. Louis and met Doe again in the late summer of 2010 and again gave her alcohol and marijuana, and tried to put her back to work, prosecutors said.

Alexander and Norris each pleaded guilty to one felony count of enticement to engage in prostitution. They face up to 20 years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines at their Sept. 9 sentencing.
