Guilty Plea In N.Y. Prostitution Ring

MANHATTAN (CN) - A woman who helped run the prostitution ring that brought down Gov. Eliot Spitzer pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiring to run the Emperors Club VIP, and to launder money. Cecil Suwal aka "Katie" admitted she ran the group's Web site, arranged payments and concealed them, took applications from prostitutes, and conspired to transport women across state lines for prostitution.

Suwal admitted she opened bank accounts for QAT Consulting and QAT International, which she used to conceal payments from johns. She also wrote checks from those accounts to pay the prostitutes.

Suwal, 23, of the Bronx, faces up to 5 years in prison for prostitution conspiracy, and up to 20 years for conspiring to launder money. She will be sentenced on Sept. 12.

Spitzer was driven from office after his trysts with a prostitute who went by the name of Kristen became public knowledge.
