Guilty Plea From al-Qaida Cohort

MANHATTAN - A Malian man pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiring to provide material support to foreign terrorists. Oumar Issa faces up to 15 years in prison at his Feb. 12, 2012, sentencing. Two men charged with him await trial.

Issa was charged along with fellow Mali citizens Horouna Toure and Adriss Abdelrahman in December 2009. They were accused of agreeing to take cocaine through West and North Africa for al-Qaida, al-Qaida in the Islamic Magreb, and the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia.

Issa was arrested in Ghana on Dec. 16, 2009, at the request of the United States, and sent to New York.
