HONOLULU (CN) - The National Marine Fisheries Service fails to protect false killer whales that are being killed by commercial fishing, the Center for Biological Diversity claims in Federal Court. The Center says the NMFS found in 2004 that the Hawaii Swordfish, Tuna, Billfish, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo and Oceanic Sharks Longline/Setline Fishery was killing too many false killer whales, but the agency has done nothing since then to protect the oceanic dolphin.
Plaintiffs - Hui Malama I Kohola, the Center For Biological Diversity, and Turtle Island Restoration Network - are represented by David Henkin with Earthjustice.
