WASHINGTON (CN) - President Obama has created a Task Force on Skills for America's Future, which is to include representatives from every cabinet office.
The task force is to develop federal policies that encourage public-private collaboration to develop career pathway and training programs with curricula, certifiable skills, credentials and degrees that are matched to the needs of industry.
Announced during the White House Summit on Community Colleges, where Obama called community college's "the unsung heroes of American education," the new task force will emphasize integration between community colleges, their graduates and the specific needs of employers.
The task force is charged with producing a report with policy recommendations for the president, but no completion date was issued with the Presidential Memorandum announcing the new task force.
