Group Howls for Mexican Gray Wolf

PHOENIX - WildEarth Guardians want Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to act on its request to list the Mexican gray wolf as an endangered or threatened subspecies under the Endangered Species Act. The wild Mexican wolf population includes 52 wolves and only two breeding pairs, in the Blue Range Wolf Recovery Area in the Apache National Forest of Arizona and the Gila National Forest of New Mexico.

In its federal complaint, the group says it gave Salazar notice on Nov. 11, 2009 that it would file a lawsuit unless he acted on its petition within the statutory 90 days.

WildEarth Guardians is represented by Kenneth W. McCain of Scottsdale.
