Grocery Distributor To Lay Off 530

LITTLE ROCK (CN) - Affiliated Foods Southwest filed for bankruptcy, listing $47.6 million in assets and $101.5 million in debts. The wholesale distributor laid off half of it workforce of 530 and the rest will lose their jobs in a month, according to news reports. The bankruptcy is expected to affect independently owned grocery stores in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
