Grocer Accuses Customers of Gift Card Scam

CLEVELAND (CN) - Supermarket chain Giant Eagle accuses two individuals of falsely claiming to be associated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars in order to buy gift cards in bulk, purportedly for charitable purposes. They then used the cards to buy gift cards from other vendors, including pre-paid Visa cards, which they sold for profit, Giant Eagle claims in Federal Court.

It claims Michele Nicholas aka Michele Milone and Patrick Sheehy aka Patrick Nicholas bought the cards on an open credit account and still owe the plaintiff $145,000.

Giant Eagle is represented by Stephen Dodd with Meyers, Roman, Friedberg & Lewis.
