Green-Card Scam Doesn’t Give Immigrant Leeway

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - The 9th Circuit ruled that a corrupt federal immigration employee who sold Young Sun Shin a fake green card for $10,000 does not bar the government from removing Shin for overstaying her tourist visa. "Unsurprisingly, we hold the government cannot be saddled with the felonious, unauthorized issuance of residency documentation by a thieving employee," Judge Bea wrote.
