DENVER (CN) - The government must release documents related to the suicide death of an inmate whose family says he was murdered by prison guards or inmates, the 10th Circuit ruled.
After the bloody body of Kenneth Trentadue was found hanging in his cell in Oklahoma City, government agents and local police called it suicide. Trentadue's family thinks he was beaten to death. Kenneth's brother, Jesse, requested documents from the investigations. The Integrity Committee of the President's Council on Integrity and Efficiency, an executive body, claimed that 94 pages were exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. But the circuit says that most of the documents must be disclosed. See ruling.
