WASHINGTON (CN) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California objected to the recently enacted National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration management plan for the Monterey Bay and Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuaries, which would have banned most aquaculture, such as the farming of non-native oysters, in the sanctuaries.
The Acting Secretary of Commerce agreed to allow introduction of species associated with aquaculture already licensed by the state.
