Gov. Brown Appoints SD Superior Court Judge

SAN DIEGO (CN) - Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Kelly Chong Mok to a seat on San Diego County Superior Court; she has been a deputy district attorney there since 1994.

Mok, 48, of Carlsbad became assistant chief of the North County Branch of the San Diego County District Attorney's Office last year. She will take the seat of Judge William Gentry, who retired.

Mok got her bachelor's degree from UC-Irvine, and her J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. She is a Democrat.

California Superior Court judges are paid $189,041 a year.
