Gov. Brown Appoints 20 to Superior Courts

SACRAMENTO (CN) - Twenty Californians have been appointed to judgeships on 13 Superior Courts.

Gov. Jerry Brown's Office announced the appointments Friday.

For Los Angeles County:

Mark K. Hanasono, 39, of Los Angeles, has worked for the county's Alternate Public Defender's Office since 2004.

Daniel Juarez, 47, of Rancho Palos Verdes, has been an administrative law judge at the California Office of Administrative Hearings since 2005.

Shelley L. Kaufman, 56, of West Hollywood, has been an attorney at Geragos and Geragos since 1997, after 16 years in private practice elsewhere.

Dorothy C. Kim, 41, of Los Angeles, has been an assistant U.S. attorney in California's Central District since 2001, and deputy chief there since 2010.

For San Diego County:

Cindy D. Davis, 50, of Imperial Beach, was a chief deputy city attorney for San Diego for 7 years, and has been a Superior Court commissioner since 2006.

Daniel G. Lamborn, 57, of Ramona, has been chief deputy district attorney at the San Diego County District Attorney's Office since 2008.

For Orange County:

Gary L. Moorhead, 63, of Laguna Niguel, has been a partner at Pholson and Moorhead since 1980.

Fred W. Slaughter, 40, of Yorba Linda, has worked for U.S. Attorney's Offices in California and Oregon since 2002.

For Sacramento County:

Stephen P. Acquisto, 45, has worked for Gov. Brown's office since 2011, and as California deputy attorney general since 2001.

Michael G. Bowman, 53, of Elk Grove, has been a criminal defense attorney in private practice since 1995.

For Riverside County:

Dean Benjamini, 47, of Bermuda Dunes, was a deputy public defender for 11 years, and in private practice for 8.

For Alameda County:

Ursula Jones Dickson, 45, of Oakland, has been a deputy district attorney there since 1999.

Alison M. Tucher, 51, of Berkeley, has been at Morrison and Foerster since 1998, and a partner since 2005.

For Santa Barbara County:

James K. Voysey, 63, of Santa Maria, has worked at the county Public Defender's Office since 1985.

For Contra Costa County:

John C. Cope, 50, of Benicia, has been a deputy district attorney for the county since 1991.

For Merced County:

Paul C. Lo has been a solo practitioner since 2003 and was in private practice for 9 years before that.

For Calaveras County:

Hugh K. Swift, 54, of Angeles Camp, a court officer at Calaveras County Superior Court since 2011, worked for Amador County Superior Court for 12 years and in private practice for 13.

For Solano County:

Christine A. Karringer, 59, of Fairfield, has been in private practice for 26 years, the past 4 at Katchis, Harris and Yempuku.

For Sonoma County:

Lawrence E. Ornell, 52, of Santa Rosa, has been a commissioner at the county's Superior Court since 2004 and was a deputy district attorney for the county for 11 years before that.

For Shasta County:

Monique D. McKee, 48, of Redding, has worked for the county's Superior Court since 2007, after 10 years in private practice.

The judgeships pay $181,192 a year.
