GOP Sues New York over Buffalo Congressional Slot

BUFFALO (CN) - The Republican Party claims the New York Board of Elections is trying to cheat the party out of a Buffalo congressional seat by declaring a third party candidate, who happens to also be Republican, ineligible.

The Republicans say the board is finagling the 26th Congressional District race by declaring Working Families Party candidate Jon Powers ineligible because he no longer lives in Buffalo, and replacing his name in the Working Families slot with Democratic Party candidate Alice Kryzan. The Republicans claims Powers has not really left Buffalo.

The Republicans want the defendants enjoined from certifying a winner in the 26th District race until its claim is adjudicated.

The GOP is represented in Federal Court by Thomas Knab.
