Golfers Say They Were Bilked By Bogus New Pro Tour

HOUSTON (CN) - Thomas Kidd took thousands of dollars from 18 investors and golfers for what he promised would be a new pro golf tour, and took thousands of dollars in entry fees for tournaments that never took place, Luke Main and 17 other plaintiffs claim in Harris County Court.

Plaintiffs say Kidd, of Lake Mary, Fla., and Hartford, N.C., claimed his co-defendant Greens Worldwide Inc. would be a "new 'pro' golf tour with a full slate of tournaments with attractive purses." But it was a fraud, say the plaintiffs, who say they gave Kidd $134,845 for his scam. They also sue Kidd's U.S. Pro Golf Tour and William Conwell. The demand damages for deceptive trade, fraud and breach of contract. They are represented by Daniel Crowder. See complaint.
