Glock Without Safety Killed Son, Says Mom

MIAMI (CN) - A mother says her son is dead because the Glock 27 handgun is sold without a manual safety mechanism. She says the Glock 27 has "one of the highest number of accidental discharges in the United States."

Rubi Champagne sued Glock and the store that sold the gun, Lou's Police and Security Equipment. She also sued Ricardo Diaz, who owned the Glock that allegedly shot her son in the stomach.

She says her son, Justin, asked to see the pistol and it fired when he took it from Diaz's hand, because the pistol was sold without a manual safety mechanism. She says the pistol was not altered, but was in the same condition when it killed her son as when it was made and sold.

She is represented in Miami-Dade County Court by George Nachwalter.
