ELIZABETH, N.J. (CN) - A high school student who was sexually assaulted by one of Plainfield High School's top athletes says she was denied an education while the school allowed her assailant to continue in classes and represent the school on athletics teams even after he was convicted of two counts of first-degree sexual assault.
She claims that after defendant Reginald Dixon sexually assaulted her, she had to ask repeatedly for in-home instruction from defendant principal Mr. Ingargiola. She claims Ingargiola knew of the assault because she reported it to him. She says she was provided inadequate instruction at home, and that Dixon and his father, defendant Craig Venson, came to her home to harass her. And she claims that after she moved out of state to escape the trauma, Dixon contacted students at her new school via MySpace to inform them of the sexual assault, and to encourage further harassment. She seeks punitive damages for discrimination, sexual harassment, slander and legal violations. She is represented by Luretha Stribling in Union County Court.
