Gibson Claims Major Retailers Sell|Copycat ‘Guitar Hero’ Games

NASHVILLE (CN) - Gibson Guitar says Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart, GameStop, Toys-R-Us and Amazon.com are selling "Guitar Hero" knockoffs that violate its patents on the best-selling video game. Gibson claims the patent violations, and inducements to violate patent, include use of the "Guitar Hero" name, the "guitar style instruments" and game controllers, video displays, consoles and audio systems.

The billion-dollar patent at issue, No. 5,990,405, is for a "System And Method For Generating And Controlling A Simulated Musical Concert Experience."
