Georgia Supreme Court

DEATH PENALTY, ATTORNEYS - Two defense attorneys, appointed by the public defender, refused to proceed with hearings until new counsel was appointed after they subpoenaed their employers over Georgia's indigent capital defendant funding crisis. The Georgia Supreme Court affirmed that the attorneys were in criminal contempt for refusing to proceed, even on motions that had nothing to do with their conflict of interest. See ruling.
