Georgia School Lied To Them, Class Claims

ATLANTA (CN) - American Intercontinental University defrauds students with baseless claims about the quality of education it offers, its instructors' qualifications, its admission policies, transferability of credits, and made up its job placement rate "out of thin air," students say in a class-action complaint in Fulton County Court.

Students say AIU charges $35,000 or more for an 18-month A.A. degree. They claim that despite AIU's misrepresentations, "Many employers, including former AIU students, will not hire AIU graduates because of the poor quality of education that AIU students receive".

They claim that, despite AIU's misrepresentations, the school does not help graduates find jobs, but abandons them to seek "only low paying, entry level jobs" on their own, "contrary to promises that AIU will provide them with lifetime job placement services."

They claim that AIU's job placement rates "are simply made up out of thin air because most graduates were never interviewed, polled, or surveyed regarding their employment status after graduation".

They claim that "AIU's stated placement rates misrepresented AIU's actual placement rates by claiming credit for job 'placements' by AIU even when AIU had provided no assistance to former students who had nonetheless found jobs."

And so on. Plaintiffs also sue Career Education Inc., AIU's corporate parent. They demand restitution, costs and damages. They are represented by Joseph Wargo.
