Gavin McInnes loses defamation claim vs. SPLC

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Gavin McInnes lost his defamation lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center; the Vice Media and Proud Boys co-founder could not convince an Alabama federal court that he was defamed when the organization called his right-wing fraternity a “hate group.” His assertion that the statements were made with “reckless disregard for their falsity” is “merely conclusory” and he could not show the publisher “purposefully avoided further investigation with the intent to avoid the truth.”
