Gandhi’s Party Demands Damages For Libel

MANHATTAN (CN) - The Indian National Overseas Congress demands $100 million from three people who allegedly defamed Party Chairwoman Sonia Gandhi in an ad in The New York Times. The party claims in New York County Court that Bharat Barai, Narendra Kataria and Arish Sahani stated, falsely, that "Sonia's violence spans political ... and physical spheres. Sonia locked the then Congress President with party goons in a toilet and declared herself Party President ... (and) from the time Sonia entered India, she has looted the country on a large scale."
