‘Gamergate 2.0’ suit not dismissed

MANHATTAN — A federal court in New York declined to dismiss a video games journalist’s complaint alleging that a gaming influencer posted defamatory statements against her on his X account and encouraged a harassment campaign resulting in more than 1,000 rape and death threats against the journalist. The court permits the journalist to conduct limited jurisdictional discovery because she “pleaded a ‘sufficient start’ to establishing personal jurisdiction.”
