FTC Says It’s Cracking Down on Home Scams

LAS VEGAS (CN) - Federal and state prosecutors have filed 140 lawsuits accusing people of "foreclosure rescue" and "loan modification" scams, the FTC said Tuesday. The FTC announced the figures in Nevada, where it says 1 of 23 homeowners faces foreclosure. The agency said the 140 actions have been filed "since the housing crisis began," without specifying precisely when that was.
