FTC OKs Big Booze Merger, With Conditions

WASHINGTON (CN) - To complete its $9 billion acquisition of Swedish booze maker V&S Vin & Spirit, Pernod Ricard will have to terminate is distribution deal with Stolichnaya within 6 months of the merger, the FTC said in a settled antitrust complaint. Without that provision, the FTC said, the merger would restrict competition in the two most popular brands of expensive vodka, Absolut and Stolichnaya.
