Friends with benefits

SANTA ANA, Calif. — An appeals court in California ruled that friends with benefits might have a dating relationship that can support a tort claims for domestic violence under the state’s family code, but not always. In this case, the pair’s “sporadic sexual ‘hook ups’” lacked the frequency, affection, emotional intimacy or publicity characteristic of a dating relationship.
