Fraud Alleged In Latin American Golf Deal

MANHATTAN (CN) - DirecTV Latin America claims Carlos Vicente Avila and others defrauded it in a supposed joint venture with Avila to create a Spanish-language TV channel to broadcast golf programs to Latin America.

The joint venture, to be called Latin America Sports, allegedly was "a scheme whereby [the defendants] ... secretly intended to exploit the arrangement to enrich themselves at LAS's and DirectTV's expense."

Plaintiffs are DirecTV Latin America and Latin American Sports.

Here are the defendants: Latin America Sports LLC, Park 610 LLC, Carlos Vicente Avila, Roberto Timistit, Carlos Pratola, and Alejandro Zunda Cornell.

DirecTV is represented in Federal Court by Steven Mintz with Mintz & Gold.
