Francis Ford Coppola Accused Of Stiffing| Muse Productions For ‘Virgin Suicides’

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Muse Productions and Virgin Profits demand $500,000 from Francis Ford Coppolaand American Zoetrope, claiming Coppola refused to account for and share profits from the film, "The Virgin Suicides." Muse claims that Coppola, "through (his daughter) Sofia Coppola," took money owed Muse and Virgin and used it to make other movies, including "Lost in Translation" and "Marie Antoinette."

Plaintiffs say they acquired film rights to the novel, "The Virgin Suicides," by Jeffrey Eugenides, and that Coppola made the movie from it in 2000, using a screenplay written by his daughter, Sofia. Plaintiffs claim Coppola owes them far more money that he has paid, or acknowledged.

Plaintiffs are represented in Superior Court by Freedman & Taitelman.
