ST. LOUIS (CN) - A former St. Louis Rams executive claims a St. Louis jeweler never delivered two custom-made diamond necklace pendants commemorating the Rams win in Super Bowl XXXIV, which he paid for nearly 3 years ago.
Jay Zygmunt sued Joe Lordo Diamonds and Fine Jewelry, and Joe Lordo, in City Court.
He says he paid for the jewelry in full in November 2008: $10,350 by credit card. He says that "Lordo made numerous representations to Zygmunt throughout 2009 and 2010 that he would deliver the jewelry to Zygmunt promptly."
But it hasn't happened, Zygmunt says.
"Defendants intended the representations to induce Zygmunt to pay Lordo to produce and deliver the jewelry," the complaint states. "Defendant later intended the representations to induce Zygmunt to wait for a period in excess of two years for delivery, during which the price of gold has increased significantly."
Zygmunt says his damages exceed $25,000 because the price of has gold more than doubled since 2008. He is represented by Matthew Aplington, with The Lowenbaum Partnership.
Zygmunt joined the Rams in 1982 and became president of football operations in February 2004. He resigned in 2008 toward the end of a 2-14 season.
