LOS ANGELES (CN) — A former Customs and Border Patrol officer was sentenced Friday to three years in federal prison for bribing other officials to get green cards for clients at the immigration consulting business he ran.
George Wu, 63, of Pico Rivera, left the federal agency in early 2012 and then ran Great Eastern Immigration Services, where he participated in the bribery scheme, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
A federal jury in August 2015 convicted him of conspiracy and five counts of bribing a public official.
Eleven people have been indicted and seven have been convicted or pleaded guilty, prosecutors said.
